Stillman Bank “Building Up the 815” Campaign

As a locally owned and headquartered community bank, we value every opportunity to give back to our communities. In partnership with the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago and their COVID-19 Targeted Impact Fund, we just ended our “Building Up The 815” campaign.

With this campaign, we presented three local non-profit organizations that are committed to assisting individuals and families with access to affordable housing resources with a $5,000 contribution.

Our three “Building Up The 815” recipients were:

1. Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County

Habitat for Humanity of Ogle County is a not-for-profit organization whose mission is to eliminate poverty housing by building simple, decent affordable houses for people in need, helping to revitalize neighborhoods and communities. With volunteer labor and tax-deductible donations of materials and money, Habitat builds and rehabilitates houses with the help of the partner families. The organization broke ground on its 13th home build in Ogle County this past June. The house will go to a family of 7 living in Rochelle.

2. Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity

Formed in 1988, Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity is the local Habitat affiliate for Winnebago County. Their work is not about the houses; it is about the homeowners and the community. The RAHFH is dedicated to building homes, neighborhoods, and lives through improved housing opportunity. Their mission is to build simple, decent, affordable homes to be sold to families currently living in substandard housing.

In addition to their hands-on work, the Rockford Area Habitat for Humanity also has a ReStore in Rockford that sells new and gently used furniture, appliances, home accessories, building materials, and more at a fraction of the retail price. Proceeds from the ReStore are used to build homes and improve our surrounding communities.

3. HomeStart

HomeStart is committed to creating vibrant, healthy communities in Northern Illinois by connecting people and families to beneficial, affordable housing resources and by leading community-based solutions to local challenges. With offices in Freeport and Rockford, HomeStart serves a 10-county region in Northern Illinois.

The organization’s housing counseling services are focused on helping people achieve successful, sustainable homeownership through both one-on-one counseling sessions and group education. Whether it’s helping a family to buy their first home, or helping a family save their home from foreclosure, HomeStart is there for the people they serve. Homeownership and foreclosure issues can be overwhelming and HomeStart is there to help individuals find the answers to their questions.

At Stillman Bank, we truly believe the strength of a community is measured by the compassionate actions of its counterparts. We thank each of our recipients for being passionate advocates for those in our local communities that need it the most!
