2018 Cardinal Community Christmas Tree Decorating Contest

Stillman Valley held its seventh annual Tree Decorating Contest in conjunction with the Cardinal Community Christmas event in downtown Stillman Valley on Sunday, December 2, 2018.

There were 25 groups that participated, including local schools, businesses, and community organizations. Prizes were awarded in four categories based on creativity/originality, best use of theme, overall appearance, and people’s choice. Thank you to Indian Hill Manor and Farm for sponsoring these prizes! Local community members judged the trees and winners were announced at the Tree Lighting Ceremony that evening.

A fifth category, Facebook Fan Favorite, was added in 2017, where people could vote for their favorite decorated tree by liking their respective photo on Stillman Bank’s Facebook page last week.

Congratulations to the winners!

• Julia Hull District Library won Most Creative & Original Tree AND Facebook Fan Favorite. Their tree was decorated to look to like Oscar the Grouch from Sesame Street.

• Twisty’s Cycle won Best Overall Appearance with their Santa on a motorcycle tree.

• Stillman Valley High School Office won Best Use of Theme for their tropical themed tree.

• Lastly, the People’s Choice winner was Shear Madness 2 for their Santa Workshop themed tree. Those that attended the event voted for People’s Choice by donating their loose change for their favorite tree. A total of $301.31 was raised and all funds will be donated to the Bread of Life food pantry in Stillman Valley.

The trees, donated by Stillman Bank and the Village of Stillman Valley, will remain on display at the corner of Main and Maple streets in downtown Stillman Valley through New Year’s Eve. Thank you to all who participated in the contest!
